Be Bold, Be Fearless

“Something I learnt at Footlights that has stayed with me throughout my career is how to be an intelligent performer, someone who brings their own ideas and creativity to a character rather than just doing exactly what they’re told.  That really helps you stand out from the crowd.

Footlights always encouraged me to make bold choices and to see mistakes as part of the process.  I was taught never to be afraid of trying something new, and that lesson has stayed with me throughout my career and always will.

The advice I’d give to young performers starting out at Footlights is to commit 100% to everything you do.  You must be fearless onstage and believe in yourself if you want others to believe in what you’re doing.  It’s often more impressive to make a mistake and carry on with confidence than it is to do everything perfectly.

Most of all, this is the time to have as much fun as possible with performing, and Footlights is the perfect environment to do that.”
